Appointments:

Pittsburgh Veterinary Cardiology sees patients by referral from primary care veterinarians, the PVSEC - Blue Pearl emergency service, and the other specialty services at PVSEC- Blue Pearl. OFA screenings for breeding do not require a referral.

We are open Monday - Friday from 8:00AM - 5:30PM. A limited number of drop-off appointments are also offered for evaluation of previous patients. Initial appointments will generally take 60-90 minutes and recheck appointments require 30-60 minutes depending on the complexity of the case. Most non-invasive diagnostic tests can be completed during that time. Additional testing or invasive procedures will require that patients stay for the day or, in some cases, be hospitalized overnight or dropped off on a subsequent day.

Fasting is NOT required for routine cardiology appointments and sedation is not routinely necessary for cardiac testing. Because many patients of cardiology receive daily diuretics, WATER should be provided AT ALL TIMES.

Our cardiologists operate on a full appointment schedule daily. We realize that emergencies occur and urge you to call us right away. One of our veterinary technicians will help you trouble shoot and if your pets needs to be seen urgently we will help guide you to the closest facility best suited to provide the urgent care needed for you and your pet. Rest assured that we will work with the doctors examining your pet to provide the best treatment plan for their particular condition.
